Johnny C.Y. Lam (仲賢 Chung Yin) is a Canadian photographer based in Newfoundland and Labrador, best known for his portraiture, documentary, travel and food photography.
An accomplished visual storyteller, his work appears regularly in leading publications such as The New York Times, Globe and Mail, The Atlantic, Canadian Geographic, Travel + Leisure, The Walrus, and The Narwhal.
Johnny’s work has been recognized with prestigious honours, including two Applied Arts Photography Awards in 2026, Gold for Investigative Reporting at the National Magazine Awards and Gold in Environmental and Climate Change reporting from the Canadian Association of Journalists in 2025. The Best Photograph Category in the National Magazine Award in 2023 and 2024.
He is a 2024 Pulitzer grantee and is focusing on a long term project documenting climate adaptation in coastal communities of Newfoundland and Labrador.
When he is not traveling or behind the lens, he enjoys cooking, hiking and reading photo books at home.
